Zella Fern "Fern" Clark (Whisler)
July 13, 1916 — January 24, 2011
Fern Clark, 94, of Marion, formerly of Charles City, passed away with her family by her side at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Sunday, January 23, 2011. Memoriall Service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7121 Mt. Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery, Osage, at a later date. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include her children, Bonnie (Duane) Martin, Kay Rosenwinkle, Sandra (Dennis) Peterson, and Roger (Connie) Clark; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Wallingford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters; 3 brothers; 1 grandson, Jerry Clark; and her husband.
Fern was born July 13, 1916 in Unionville, Iowa, the daughter of James “J.C.” and Ora (Bain) Whisler. Fern was united in marriage to Wilson Clark on March 21, 1935, in Cresco. The couple divorced after 28 years of marriage. She was a homemaker while raising her children and owned and operated the Clark Nursing Home in Greene, Iowa. Fern was a very dedicated servant sharing bible truths for the past 37 years. Her family and strong faith were foremost in her life.
