Yvonne Marsh, 85, a resident of Marion and Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the past five years, died December 30, 2011, from complications related to Alzheimer’s.
Since 2009, Yvonne lived with her husband of 65 years, Robert (“Bob”) at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Al Beach. Bob died in July, 2011, so they are together once again!
Yvonne and Bob were raised on neighboring farms in central Nebraska. They attended the same church and schools and after one year of college and one year of country school teaching, Yvonne married Bob and they began to farm. In addition to her homemaking and motherhood skills, Yvonne taught piano to hundreds of students, traveled extensively as a tour guide, was active in her church, and a leader in volunteer work in her children’s music and sporting activities.
Over the years, Yvonne and Bob lived near Central City, NE, Ravenna, NE, Rensselaer, IN, Webster City, IA, Littleton, CO, and Marion/Cedar Rapids, IA.
Survivors include her brother, Dr. Dale Nitzel (Wauneta) of Hastings, NE; children, Diane (Al) Beach of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Rev. Kay) Marsh of Longmont, CO, and Tom (Denise) Marsh of Denver, CO; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 5-6:30 p.m., on Thursday evening, January 5, 2021, at Wagner Funeral Home, Central City, NE. Funeral Services: 10 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at Fairview United Methodist Church, Central City, NE.
The family wishes to thank Yvonne’s very loving caregivers, Hospice of Mercy, and her medical team for their professional and compassionate care over these past five years. The loving prayers and ministry provided by Marion First United Methodist Church gave the family great comfort. Lastly, the neighbors and community who assisted in Yvonne’s well being is a lasting gift.
