Wilna Churchill, 99, of Springville, formerly of Keswick, died Friday, December 1, 2006, at her daughter?s home, following a short illness. Memorial service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Springville United Methodist Church by Rev. John Keizer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside service: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Ron) Stejskal of Anamosa; a sister, Vera Johnson; a sister-in-law, Zelda Pickering; a grandson, Nicholas (Lisa) Stejskal of Anamosa; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Elizabeth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; an infant son; a daughter, Claudia; two brothers, Claude and Oral; and a grandson, Timothy.

Wilna was born February 25, 1907, the daughter of William and Murtle (Connely) Pickering in Lynch, Nebraska. On June 10, 1936 she married Howard G. Churchill at the family ranch in Redbird, Nebraska. He died May 23, 1959 in Davenport. Wilna attended Wayne State and Drake University. She taught at rural schools in Lynch, Nebraska and Tri County Community Schools in Iowa. Wilna was a member of the United Methodist Church.
