Wilmer D. Stephan, 85, of 1462 James Dr., Marion, died Monday, October 13, 2008, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Marion, by Rev. Randy Bobzien. The family will greet friends from 4 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Military rites provided by Marion American Legion Post #298.

Survivors include his wife, Audrie, of Cedar Rapids; his children, Gary Stephan of Marion, Kathy Stephan of Cedar Rapids, Dan Stephan of Marion, and Tim Stephan of Marion; his siblings, Julie McCoy of Nortonville, Kansas, Alice Maxom of North Loup, Nebraska and Wilma Ademson of Wichita, Kansas; and 3 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Curt; and one granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Stephan.

Wilmer was born May 11, 1923, the son of Earl and Alice (Crouch) Stephan, in Nortonville, Kansas. He married Audrie Domer on April 29, 1947 in Marion, Iowa. Wilmer worked at Nissen Trampoline where he retired after 25 years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Marion. Wilmer’s favorite hobby was watching baseball and woodworking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Wilmer was a WWII Army veteran.

A memorial fund has been established in Wilmer’s name.
