Wilma Linkenback, 100, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jay Jentink will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Gladys Browning of Independence, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl in 2008; infant daughter; brothers, Orville Wirtner and Vernon Wirtner; two infant brothers, Alfred and Albert; and sisters, Iola Eldred and Neva West.
Wilma was born on April 30, 1917, in Toddville, Iowa, daughter of Thomas and Laura (Kessler) Wirtner. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1936. On June 15, 1941, Earl and Wilma Linkenback were united in marriage, in Kahoka, Missouri. Wilma was employed by Lasswell and Thompson Photographic Studios for many years. She was a long time member at the old United Bretheren Church, was a member of the Ethel Brooke Circle and attended Calvary Baptist Church.
