Wilma G. Ferguson, 83, a resident of Living Center West, formerly of Rock Island, died at Living Center West, Wednesday, July 16, 2003, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, by Christine Wagner-Hecht, Hospice of Mercy Chaplain. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Friday) at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sister, Donna Heindselman of Cedar Rapids; a stepsister, Beverly Freeland, of Venice, Florida; nieces, Phyllis Henderson of Prairie du Chien, Denise Olson of Johnstown, Colorado, Crystal Trent of Rock Island, Illinois; nephews, Verle Heindselman Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky, Paul Heindselman of Cedar Rapids, Craig Freeland of Venice, Florida; great niece, Cyndi Bean of Johnstown, Colorado; great nephews, Brian Henderson of Florida, Aaron Henderson of Prairie du Chien, Kevin Heindselman of Johnson City, Tennessee, Marcus Heindselman of Louisville, Kentucky, Michael Heindselman and Christopher Strain, both of Cedar Rapids; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a stepmother, Leah Elizabeth, a brother, Clayton Walker and a niece Debra Strain.
She was born the daughter of William R. and Bessie G. Dedmore Walker on February 5, 1920, in Wyanet, Illinois. On May 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Harry C. Ferguson. Wilma was retired after working many years at the Franklin Grove Nursing Home in Franklin Grove, Illinois. She was a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, Illinois.
Wilma enjoyed quilting, loved trees and has many friends who will truly cherish memories of her.
