Wilma L. (Weis) Conley, 84, a lifelong resident of Marion, died of complications of breast cancer on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at Keystone Cedars Assisted Living, Cedar Rapids. Per Wilma?s request, private graveside services will be held at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion, by the Rev. Donald Loesch. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Janet Burcham and Richard Polite of Marion; two granddaughters, Jennifer Burcham of Riverside and Laura Aamodt and husband Bjorn of Iowa City; and two great-grandchildren, Eric and Melissa Aamodt of Iowa City.
Wilma was born September 11, 1920, to Lewie and Ella (Popenhagen) Weis in Marion, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Kenneth James Conley on May 1, 1948, and for the next 56 years, they resided on the same farm she had grown up on. Prior to her marriage, she had worked at LaPlante Choate in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Wilma?s memory.
