Wilma Burrell, 99, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospice in Cedar Rapids. Family will greet relatives and friends Friday, May 4, 2018, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion, conducted by Pastor John Albertson. A private burial will be performed at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Wilma was born June 14, 1918, near Newhall to William and Christine (nee Werning) Fiebelkorn. She attended (German) parochial school through eighth grade and graduated from Newhall High School and Paris Beauty Academy. She married Clair Johnson in 1945. After his death in 1973 she married Jim Burrell in 1979.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Rude of Cedar Rapids and Becky Mishoe of Fort Worth, Texas; her son Richard Johnson and daughter-in-law Leslie Mamoorian of Des Moines; her grandchildren Jeff (Gypsy) Mishoe and their children Aaron, Ava, Eli, and Henry of Fort Worth, Texas, Michelle (Charlie) Faulkner and their daughter Sophia of Cedar Rapids, Jenny (Bryan) Young and their son Alexander of Fort Worth, Texas, Liljana (Nabil) Baddour and their daughter Adelina of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Ben Johnson of Sacramento, California; and her brother-in-law Bob Swanson of St. Charles, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, six brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter, and sons-in-law Harry Rude and Wayne Mishoe.

She operated her own beauty shops in Shellsburg and was employed as a secretary, newspaper customer service representative, and a tax preparer with her husband in Cedar Rapids.

Wilma was a charter member of her church, Faith Lutheran in Marion, and active in church organizations, sending greeting cards to members, organizing and usually winning at game day, preparing bandages for sending overseas, crocheting prayer shawls, and greeting new and old members at church.

Her life was one of hard work and perseverance, and her legacy to her children, extended family, and friends is one of faith, love, selfless caring, and acceptance.
