Wilma J. Brown, 75, of Manchester died Wednesday morning, May 28, 2003, at the Regional Medical Center, Manchester, after a short illness.
Services will be held 10:00 am Friday, May 30, 2003 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, with the Rev. Julie A. May officating. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday evening May 29, at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Pine View Cemetery in Delaware, Iowa.
Wilma was born December 21, 1927 in Delaware, Iowa, the daughter of Charles & Ada (Wilfong) Brown. She attended school in Delaware and graduated from the Oneida High School in 1945. After school she continued to help her parents on the family farm and also worked at the Bolin Rest Home in Manchester. Wilma was a very loving individual who tended to the needs of others. She was the devoted caregiver of her parents and her brother.
Wilma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Delhi, Iowa. Family and friends were her life. She always remembered them with birthday greetings and Christmas cards. Wilma was known for her sweet tooth. She loved Oreo cookies and chocolates. Wilma took pride in her home. She enjoyed baking especially homemade bread. She liked tending her garden and raising her chickens.
Wilma is survived by her brother, Merle Brown of Manchester, Iowa; three nephews and their wives, Robert & Barbara Brown of Shellsburg, Gary & Sandi Brown of Merced, California and Brad & Lori Brown of Nevada, Iowa; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Gary & Marilyn Smith, of Manchester, and their family.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Ada Brown; two brothers, Harry Brown and Ralph Brown; one sister Ava Brown; and a sister-in-law Laurel Brown.
