Willis T. Knight, 79, of 1932 Western Drive S.W., died Saturday morning, October 2, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at Sharon United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Dobbins. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Susan Hayes of Ashville, North Carolinca; three sons, Jeff (Dee) Knight, Mike (Kathy) Knight and David Knight, all of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Arnold of Cedar Rapids; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Ross of Cedar Rapids.
His parents and a brother, James, preceded him in death.
Born March 4, 1925, in Troy Mills, Iowa, to Claude and Eva Taylor Knight, he married Shirley Ross on January 22, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For many years, he worked for General Tire and Link Belt in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and camping. Willis was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was a very easy-going guy.
