William Barney Vermace, 49, of 900 9th Street SW, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002, in his home, following a sudden illness. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Friday) at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
Survivors include two sons, Justin Barney Vermace, 18, of Cedar Rapids and Tyler Joseph Vermace, 14, of Lisbon.
Also surviving are two nieces; five great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Laura and Arlene.
Bill was born June 4, 1953, the son of Marvin Barney and Arlene Joy LaVora Vermace, in Iowa City, Iowa. He served with the United States Army. For 20 years, Bill worked in construction as a drywaller. He also was a very respectable and avid collector of Indian artifacts and antiques.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Bill.
