William "Bill? J. Rausch, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, November 10, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center, following a lingering illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2002, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids by Father Donald Klein. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a scripture service will begin at 7 p.m. Private family burial at a later date. Military rites by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; his children, Jeff (Toni) Rausch of Marion, John (Erica) Rausch of Robins, Cherie Rausch of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Carol (Jim) Albaugh of Ankeny and Jim Rausch of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Jordan, Lauren, Ryan, Bryce and Chloe; his sister, Ann Marie Lensing of New Berlin, Wisconsin; two nephews, Michael and Stephen; a niece, Maria; and many uncles and aunts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a first cousin, Joe Rausch who was like a brother.
Bill was born April 10, 1934, the son of Roman and Clara (Huber) Rausch in Calmar, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. On November 5, 1956, he married Phyllis Holub of Center Point at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. Bill attended the Cedar Rapids School of Barbering. He started his barber career in Cedar Rapids before owning and operating Bill?s Barber Service at 901 7th Ave. in Marion for over 30 years, where he enjoyed working and visiting with his customers. Bill enjoyed visiting, fishing, hunting, farming and spending time with his grandchildren.
