Mrs. William Haji Meaheaba Aossey, 86, a resident of Living Center East, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, February 18, 2005, at the care center following an extended illness. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, followed by prayers at 12:30 p.m. at the Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids, by Iman Tahal Tawil and Iman Ahmed Elkhaldy. Burial: Muslim National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons Joe (Lila) Aossey, Al (Nancy) Aossey and William (Naomi) Aossey, all of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ollie (Betty Lou) Habhab of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Abbass (Bonnie) Habhab of Webster City, Iowa, and Sam Habhab of Orange County, California; a sister, Scina (David) Deaver of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Elizabeth Aossey; a grandson, Terry Aossey; two brothers, Abude Habhab and Hamode Habhab; and three sisters, Adeaba Bedra, Zina Hamod and Olliah Hamod.
Meaheaba was born May 13, 1918, the daughter of Haj Abbass and Meseda Harp Habhab, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1933, she was united in marriage to Haj William Aossey in Fort Dodge. He died in 1969. A wonderfully giving mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, she will be warmly remembered for her generosity to many and as a mother to all.
