William James Driscoll, Sr., 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 16, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Steven Rosonke. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
William is survived by three sons, William J. (Paulette) Driscoll, Jr., Terry Driscoll and Patrick J. (Theresa) Driscoll, all of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Kelly Driscoll, Randall (Cheryl) Driscoll, Ryan (Kerry) Driscoll, Beth (Jason) Blue and Dan (Katie) Driscoll; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lenora on January 29, 1999; a daughter, Debra; and a brother, George.
William was born the son of George and Margaret (Collins) Driscoll in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from St. Patrick?s High School, Coe College and the University of Iowa. On January 20, 1942 he was united in marriage to Lenora Kelley. William was in sales, working for Peter Pan, Colonial and Sunbeam Bakeries. He retired at age 62. William served in the U.S. Army, 179th Infantry, ?K? Company, during WWII.
William was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, the Iowa Fast-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame and Teamsters Local #238.
A memorial fund has been established in William?s name.
