William G. Dittmer, 81, of Earlville, died Monday, September 26, 2005 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood following a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Greeley United Methodist Church in Greeley by Pastor Ruth Tibbott. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, rural Colesburg.
Bill was born July 8, 1924 in Greeley, the son of Benjamin and Elsie (Woeste) Dittmer. He attended Oak Grove country school in rural Earlville and graduated from Manchester High School in 1942. Bill farmed near Greeley with his parents. In 2004 he moved to the Edgewood Convalescent Home.
Bill was a member of the Greeley United Methodist Church and a former member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in rural Colesburg. He was a very generous man and liked sharing his produce with family and friends. Bill enjoyed time spent with his classmates at their monthly get-togethers.
Bill is survived by several cousins, including Darla (Dave) Gaskill of Manchester, Lyle Herman, Betty Herman, Dean Herman and Wayne Herman, all of Earlville, Jean Jilka of Eureka, MO and Clara Mae Valicento of Chicago.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin & Elsie Dittmer; and three sisters, Freda, Grace and Mary Dittmer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
