William E. Curry, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in his home. Graveside services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Chaplain Joe Kane. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Doreen “Sue” Curry of Cedar Rapids; children, Debbie Dee Rodden of Mesa, Arizona, Cindee (Jerry) Tharp of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tom Curry Oxford, Wisconsin, Jenny (Thom) Noone of Sedgwick, Kansas, Debbie Stambaugh, Sherry Stambaugh, and Mike Stambaugh all of Waterloo, Lorie Rodden of West Palm Beach, Florida, Chris (Lori) Curry of Evansdale, Iowa, Mark (Lisa) Thompson of Meridian, Idaho, Tom Thompson of Hiawatha, Iowa, Susan Thompson and Scott (Julie) Thompson all of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Sandy (Al) McEnany of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Gloria (Denny) Cargin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kathy (Jim) Gusta of Marion, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; beloved dog, Star; and grandcat, Timmy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Pat Hubbard and Caroline O’Donnell.

William was born on October 24, 1937, in Monmouth, Illinois, son of George and Pauline (Shook) Curry. He graduated high school in 1955 from McKinley. William entered the United States Army and served in Germany. Upon his return to Cedar Rapids he worked at Coca-Cola for 18 years. He then worked at IBC international bakery in Florida and Kansas, as a driver for 18 years. On September 28, 2001, he married the love of his life, Doreen “Sue” Thompson in Cedar Rapids. He retired at the age of 62. William was a Cedar Rapids school bus driver for 10 years and he dearly loved it. He was a former member of The Knights of Columbus. William loved to bowl, to feed and watch birds, go to dog shows and to travel.

Memorial may be directed to Mercy Hospice in memory of William.
