William K. "Bill" Yates

William “Bill” Yates, 57, of 1263 32nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, a lifetime resident of Palo, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital. A memorial gathering will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Shellsburg American Legion.
Survivors include three daughters, Chelsey Yates of Cedar Rapids, and twins Abbey and Erin Yates of Cedar Rapids; a brother Al Yates of California; and a sister, Kathy (Tom) Houlahan of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bobbie Kieck.
Bill was born October 27, 1951, the son of Harry Yates Jr. and Lois (McGranahan) Yates in Cedar Rapids. He worked at the Alliant Energy 6th St. Plant as a control room operator for thirty-one years. He was a member of IUOE Local 275.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation in Bill’s memory.
