William “Bill” G. Vedder, 73, a resident of Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at the Veterans Home. Memorial Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors by American Legion Post 727.
Survivors include his sister, Jean Doran of Tama; his nieces and nephews, Chris (Rick) Horney, William “Bill” (Connie) Albertson, Brenda (Randy) Young and Fred (Lory) Doran; many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill was born June 18, 1937, the son of William and Helen (Heath) Vedder, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Bill retired from the trucking industry. He was a 1954 member of the Civil Air Patrol and the C. R. Citizen Band Radio Club.
