William Joseph "Bill" Phelps

William Joseph Phelps, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. – 12 noon on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, to be followed by graveside committal service at Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City.
Bill was born December 17, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Thomas C. and Marie (Kepler) Phelps. He retired after many years as a truck driver.
Bill is survived by his children, Teresa A. (Okee) Jones, Brian J. (Mary) Phelps, and Joanna M. Phelps, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Laura Kurth, Lisa & Patrick Osten, Erica, Karen, and Daniel Phelps; a great-grandson, Austin Kisling; and siblings, Robert Phelps of Kentucky, and Jean (Harold) Hertel of Homestead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marie Phelps; son, Christopher L. Phelps; and daughter, Vicky S. Osten.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Bill’s memory.
