William Gene "Bill" Hampton

William (Bill) Gene Hampton, 59, of 1219 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, September 26, 2008, following a long illness. A private graveside service will be held. The family will greet friends from 4 ?" 8 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2008 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; 2 daughters, Stephanie (Christopher) Fitch of Cedar Rapids and Lesley (Marcus) Osterkamp, of Hiawatha; his mother, Bette Hampton; 2 stepchildren, Luke (Lindsay) Healey of Ames and Molly (Jay) Glaspie of Des Moines; 5 grandchildren, Gunther, Morgan, Logan, Heather, and Cassidy; a brother, Robert Hampton, Jr. of Walker and 2 sisters, twin sister Susan Burger of Cedar Rapids and Mary (Larry) Arbogast of Battle Creek, Michigan. Also surviving are many other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob; an infant son, Jason; and his first wife, Deborah.
Bill was born November 8, 1948, the son of Robert and Bette (Oxley) Hampton in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1968. He married Deborah Adamson May 30, 1972. She died January 22, 1996. He later married Rhonda Weisskopf on October 17, 1999. Bill was a simple man who liked fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
