William "Bill" Ellis

William “Bill” Ellis, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018, at the Iowa City VA Hospital. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Czech National at a later date.
Bill was born March 19, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Charles and Hazel (Reinberg) Ellis. He married Marie Franc on July 1, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. He worked for the Iowa D.O.T. and Klinger Paint. Bill was a member of the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge and a veteran of the United States Army. He loved to work on old cars and motorcycles and always was willing to help out family members with their vehicles. Bill often socialized at C.J’s Sports Bar & Grill in Czech Village.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marie Ellis of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Judy (Craig) Willman, Sue (Mel) Ellis, Chris (Pat) Mooney, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Eveard Hartson; great-grandaughter, Tayah Mease; six brothers and one sister.
The family would like to thank the 5th floor staff at the VA Hospital in Iowa City for their comforting care of Bill.
