William "Bill? A. Cady, 82, of 4046 Bobolink Lane, Hiawatha, died Saturday, December 2, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Graveside services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at Walker Cemetery, Walker, by the Rev. Kay Slocum. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker. Burial: Walker Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Joyce; his children, Judy Cady Miller , Connie Cady Morris (John Bowers), both of Troy Mills and Weldon (Tina) Cady of Center Point; his stepchildren, Sally Sebetka (Joe Weiland) of Mechanicsville and David (Carrie) Sebetka of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Stan (Bonnie) Cady of Mississippi and Clifford (Mary) Cady of Hiawatha; four sisters, Naomi (Frank) Shockman of Seattle; Mildred Wells of Cedar Rapids, Luella Rasmussen of Quasqueton, Charlotte (John) Lundholm of Minnesota and Rosetta Andrews of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Royal and Marie Cady and Leo and Dolly Cady; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was born August 4, 1924, the son of Charles William and Ella May (Butterfield) Cady in Walker, Iowa. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. For 34 years, Bill worked for Farmstead as a truck driver, retiring in 1986. His greatest love was music, followed by hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling. Bill also enjoyed working at the Cedar Rapids municipal golf courses.
