Wilbur “Wil” G. Falconer, 67, of rural Walker, Iowa, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at his home. Services: 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, conducted by Pastor Daniel Winn. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marilyn Falconer of rural Walker; son, Adam (Jessica) Falconer of Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughter, Emma who was the joy of his life; siblings, Roger (Linda) Falconer of Center Point, Marlene Falconer of Cedar Rapids and Niles Falconer of Alburnett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Virgil and Robert; and son Joshua.
Wilbur was born on June 22, 1946, in his parents’ home near Ryan, Iowa, son of Douglas Wayne and Viola Ruth (Wilson) Falconer. He attended K-12 in Coggan, Iowa. On August 2, 1969, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Mason. Wilbur worked as an insurance agent for more than 30 years. He started his own independent agency in Center Point, which eventually became Center Point Insurance where he partnered with Ted Rogers. He was a member of the Walker American Legion Ray Post # 376. Wilbur was a strong supporter of local businesses and charities close to home. He enjoyed mentoring newer business owners and encouraging young people to focus on their education. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, playing cards and shooting the breeze with his many friends. Wilbur looked forward to vacations with his wife and children. Wilbur recently traveled to Alaska, Maryland, Chesapeake Bay, Gulf Coast, Nevada, California, China and Hawaii. His wit and strong spirit will be the subject of many great conversations and stories among those fortunate enough to be his friends.
