Wendell R. Wendt, 69, of Earlville, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at his home. Visitation: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Clifton – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville. Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2018, at Earlville United Parish, with visitation one hour prior to service at the church.
Wendell was born June 20, 1948, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Edna Mae (Baskerville) Wendt. Wendell was a 1966 graduate of Maquoketa Valley High School. He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation in the construction division. Wendell was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and old movies. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating and water skiing on Lake Delhi, going to races, and socializing with friends at Boonies.
Wendell is survived by his sister, Wanda Wendt of Des Moines; aunts and uncle, Edie Baskerville of Decorah, Richard and Doris Baskerville of West Des Moines, and Pauline Wendt of Dysart, and numerous cousins.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister and brother in infancy, Martha Jane and Martin Wendt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Earlville United Parish or the Delaware County Food Bank.
