Wayne E. Wilkinson, 79, of 4200 Rowley Rd., died Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at his home, following a brief illness. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2003, at Squaw Creek Baptist Church in Marion by Rev. Michael Kleeberger. Burial will be at a later date at Jordan?s Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Central City; his children, Sharon Daugherty and husband Dan of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Pattie Miller and husband Murray of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, Larry Wilkinson and wife Helen of Walford and Judy Devers and husband Del of Bremerton, Washington; two sisters, Margaret Slife of Mill Creek, Washington and Lorna Hoff of Marion; a brother, Dave Wilkinson and wife Peggy of Marion; a sister-in-law, Millie Wilkinson of Marion; and seven grandchildren, Ernest, Rosalynn and Danita Miller, Rachel Dion, Melissa and Monica Daugherty and Chad Bowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis.
Wayne was born March 18, 1924, the son of Lewis and Emma (Minor) Wilkinson in Linn County. On December 28, 1947, he married Evelyn Shaull in Keswick, Iowa. He farmed in Linn County for most of his life and served in the agriculture department at Linn CO-OP. Wayne served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of Squaw Creek Baptist Church in Marion.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be made in Wayne?s memory to St. Luke?s Hospice or to Squaw Creek Baptist Church.
