Wayne “Fat Cat” Jones, 31, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Visitation: 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2019, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Wayne was born on March 29, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Wayne Friend and Karol Jones. After graduating high school, he went on to earn a Culinary Arts degree. Wayne also worked in construction. He was a member of Living Waters Church. Wayne loved music and enjoyed rapping and recording music. He treasured time spent with family and friends. Wayne was known for his huge appetite and his gym shoe collection. He enjoyed traveling and taking trips. Wayne was very handy and always had the mindset that he could do anything. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Survivors include his mother, Karol Jones; father, Wayne Friend; grandmother, Betty Let Jones; siblings, Monique Prestwood, John Demoss, Sherilynn Asuoha, Tiffany Jones, Rayshaun, Jabari and Tivarion Friend; nieces, Kayla, Johnice, Tinyja, Eimyah, Johnaija, Imani, Eden Sophia, Nivea, Trinity Elise, Zakirrah, Anaiah Mishael, Laraya and Lariya; nephews, Jadis, Gavin, Rayshaun Jr. and Sincere; cousins, Lamar Friend, Lanier, Cynthia, Laverne, Shamicka and Syreeta Lloyd, Ashley and Lance Franklin and Andre Jr. and Tamara Jones; aunts, Toni Franklin, Vanessa Friend, Ruth Ann Van and Stephanie Sharp; uncles, Louis Friend, Andre and Phillip Jones; special friends, Dominique Baldwin; step-children, Stevon and Destiny Flowers; and a host of extended family and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Louis Friend, Myrtis and James Jones, and Irma Friend; and step-mother, Nichole Leitch.
