Dr. Wayne Dean Dvorak, 76, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of University Park, Maryland, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Wayne was born January 23, 1942, in Urbana, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Emma (Koutny) Dvorak. He received a doctorate degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois. On August 8, 1965, in Schleswig, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Theodora Ann “Teddiann” Hollander. Wayne was an instrumental music teacher at the high school in Lost Nation, University of Illinois, University of Hartford, University of Maryland, and Montgomery County Public Schools of Maryland. He enjoyed theater, the symphony, and watching sports.
He is survived by his wife, Teddiann Dvorak of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Wendi (Demitrius) Glass of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Aqeel, Aa’ishah and Aleem; sister, Evelyn (Cecil) Oldridge of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Lee Hollander of Warrenton, Virginia; and extended family including numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Henrietta and Darlene; and two brothers, Vernon and Arthur.
