Waunetta M Reiss, 68, of Ryan, died at home Wednesday, December 31, 2008 after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Hypertension.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ryan by Rev. John Flaherty. Family will greet friends, Sunday, January 4, 2009 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., where there will be a 2:00 p.m. Scripture service, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services on Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Ryan.

Waunetta was born April 3, 1940 in Manchester, the daughter of Franklin M. and Gertrude M. (Torgersen) O’Leary. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1958. On August 8, 1959, Waunetta was united in marriage to Leland E. Reiss at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester. The couple resided in Ryan where they raised five children.

Waunetta was a homemaker and helped Leland with his insurance business. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Ryan, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Waunetta was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be by missed by those who loved her.

Waunetta is survived by her husband of 49 years, Leland Reiss of Ryan; five children, David (Kendy) Reiss and Sherri (Steve) Vorwald all of Manchester, Mary (Dave) Pearson of Kirksville, MO, Deb (Al) Saunders and Dan (Chris) Reiss all of Ryan; sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren (with 2 more expecting); one brother, Jerry (Mary Pat) O’Leary of Manchester; and her in-laws, Lois (Dan) Byrne of Marion and Leo (Rosella) Reiss of Waterloo.

Waunetta was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gertrude O’Leary and her in-laws, Lorraine and Charles Kennedy.

A memorial fund will be established in Waunetta’s name to help find a cure for Pulmonary Hypertension.
