Warren “Buck” Caldwell, 94, of Coggon, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at the United Parish Church, Coggon, by Pastor Stephen Bush. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6: 00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Burial: Coggon Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; son, Stan (Sherry) Caldwell of Steamboat Rock, IA; daughter, Lyn Caldwell of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandsons, Eric (Becky) Caldwell of Pekin, IL, and Chris Caldwell of Wellsburg, IA; great-granddaughters, Rylee Caldwell, and Raegan Caldwell; and nephew, Ron (Millie) Wendt of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Caldwell; mother, Rena (Stebbins) Caldwell; step-mother, Bernice (Pete) Caldwell; sister, Evelyn Wendt; and half-brothers, Wayne “Buddy” Caldwell, and David Caldwell.
Buck was born December 13, 1920, in Coggon, Iowa, the son of Sam and Rena (Stebbins) Caldwell. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as Sergeant during WWII. Buck married Jean Henderson on June 2, 1946, in Coggon. He worked for many years as a Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Mecca #523 and American Legion Post #362 of Coggon. Buck loved to golf, and enjoyed spending his winters in Florida. He also enjoyed working outside, especially on his lawn. Buck was proud for the opportunity to attend an Honor Flight in Washington D.C. and truly enjoyed the trip.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Masonic Lodge #523 or American Legion Post #362, in Buck’s honor.
