Wanda M. Goodman, 90, of Manchester, died April 23, 2009 at the Immanuel Fontenelle Home in Omaha, NE near her family after a brief battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Manchester by Pastor Roger Henry. Graveside service will be at the Cass Township Cemetery in Strawberry Point. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa is in charge of local arrangements.
Wanda was born July 17, 1918 in Edgewood, the daughter of Otto and Savina (Pebler) Fuehr. She received her schooling in the Strawberry Point area, graduating from Strawberry Point High School in 1936. On April 5, 1941, Wanda was united to James W. Goodman. They lived in Edgewood, Waverly and Manchester where James pursued his career as teacher, coach and administrator. They also owned Goodman’s Drive-In Restaurant in Manchester where many youth had their first jobs.
Wanda was a 54-year member of the Manchester United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Questors, TTT, and Tourist Club. Wanda was an avid reader, enjoyed sports and bridge, and in earlier years played golf and enjoyed gardening.
Wanda is survived by one son, James (Dailene) Goodman of Crescent; her grandchildren, Dr. Robert (Dr. Sindy) Goodman of Commerce Township, MI, Anne (Keith) Hamm of McKinleyville, CA, and Jon (Maria) of Crescent; beloved great-grandchildren, Kayla and Trinity Hamm, Madeline and Cameron Goodman; her cousin, Barbara Hughbanks of Ontario, CA; a brother-in-law, Rob Goodman and sister-in-law, Betty Carlson both of Dubuque.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James W. Goodman, and her parents, Otto and Savina Fuehr; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Goodman; and a brother-in-law, Roger Carlson.
