Wanda J. Foster, 67, of Marion, died Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Living Center East in Cedar Rapids, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids by Pastor Carol Sunderg. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron (Elizabeth) Foster of Houston, Texas, Wes (De) Foster of Des Moines; her mother, Darlene Carlson of Boone; grandson, Keegan
Foster of Houston, Texas; sister, Kay (Roger) Wisecup of West Des Moines; brother, Paul (Kathy) Carlson of Raymore, Missouri; and brother-in-law, Mike Duett of Auburn, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Foster; father, Haven Carlson; and sister, Janice Duett.
Wanda was born June 29, 1941, to Haven C. Carlson and Darlene (Dalrymple) Carlson in Ogden, Iowa. She attended four years of college. On August 16, 1973, Wanda married Arthur Foster in Tehran, Iran. She was a long time teacher, member of the French Club and loved to volunteer at local elementary schools. Wanda loved to read and was an avid world traveler.
A memorial fund has been established in Wanda’s name and all contributions may be directed to Kay Wisecup of 4614 Western Hills Dr. West Des Moines, IA 50265.
