Walter F. Steger, 82, of Delhi passed away February 17, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, in Iowa City, IA.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi by Rev. John Kremer. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi with an 8:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional visitation, one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Delhi. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremations Services in Manchester are in charge of arrangements.
Walter was born January 10, 1932, the son of Cornelius and Irma (Uhlenkamp) Steger. On January 4, 1954, Walter was united in marriage to Betty J. Jaeger at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington. He farmed near Delhi the majority of his life.
Walter was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi. His greatest joy was farming and spending time with his family.
Walter is survived by two daughters, Jane (Steve) Bonert of Hopkinton and Diane (Mike) Sensibaugh of Glen Burnie, MD; two sons, Terry (Joan) Steger of Earlville and Doug (Patricia) Steger of Delhi; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren; siblings, Harry (Mary Jane) Steger and Margie (Donnie) DeShaw; and sisters-in-law, Joey Steger, LaVonne (Bob) Biermann, and Rita Jaeger.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty in 2006; an infant daughter, Jean Steger; a grandson, Cory Bonert; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Steger; and a brother, Eldon Steger.
