Walter Lee McArthur, 80, formerly of Springville, died January 25, 2009, at his home in Tulare, California, of a heart attack. Memorial services were held on February 2, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Tulare. Inurnment will take place in Springville at a later date. Local arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; sons, Karl of Reno, Nevada and Kenneth of San Marcus, California; daughters, Marietta McArthur of Lakeside, California, Rebecca Mosley of Visalia, California, and Vickie Lesperance of Cumming, Georgia; brother, Robert McArthur of Springville; and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Pech) McArthur of Citrus Heights, California.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Allen McArthur.
Walter was born April 29, 1928, at Robins, Iowa, the son of Allen and Katherine (Gatewood) McArthur. He was raised on the family farm near Springville. He attended Springville High School and Coe College, graduated from Brown University, received MA from Yale and JD from the University of San Diego, California. Walter was a Naval Officer serving during the Korean Conflict. He practiced law over thirty years in Tulare County, California.
