Walter T. Henderson
March 14, 1911 — October 7, 2004
Walter Thomas "Tom? Henderson, 93, a lifelong resident of Coggon, died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2004, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon by Rev. Diane Bishop. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City where a Masonic Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Burial: Coggon Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhoda Trefz of Davenport and Sherry Zumbrunnen and Ralph Dickson of Phoenix, Arizona; a son, Joseph T. (Sandy) Henderson of Coggon; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Helen; his parents; a daughter, Karen Crowley; two sisters, Janet McDonald and Ruby Henderson, who died in infancy; three brothers, Paul Henderson, John Henderson and William Henderson; and a grandson, Steven Henderson.
Tom was born March 14, 1911, the son of Walter E. and Edith M. (Jackson) Henderson in Coggon. He graduated from Coggon High School. Tom first married Helen Merritt Henderson and later divorced. In 1989, he married Helen Pillard Bach and she died in 1994. Tom farmed all of his life, the third generation to work the family farm. Tom was a member of the Mecca Masonic Lodge No. 523 AF & AM of Coggon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Tom?s memory.
