Walter B. Boss, 96, of Coggon, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, following a lingering illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon, by Chaplain Jill Mack. Burial: Coggon Cemetery. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, from 5 - 8 p.m. today (Monday.)

Survivors include his son, Ronald (Margaret) Boss of Coggon; three grandchildren, Kristin (Scott) Neighbor of Center Point, Jeffrey (Anne) Boss of Central City, and Stephanie Boss of Minneapolis, Minnesota; seven great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Jordan, Austin and Jenna Neighbor and Jonathon, Evan and Seth Boss; and a sister, Edna Greener of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola; four brothers; and three sisters.

Walter was born on June 11, 1909, the son of John and Anna Hasler Boss in rural Delaware County, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Viola Dyer on June 20, 1935. She died January 6, 2002. Walter was a longtime farmer in Delaware and Linn Counties. He was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church and the Farm Bureau.

Walter enjoyed fishing in Minnesota, wintering in Florida and gardening.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Walter.
