Walburga “Dottie” Manternach, 88, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester at a later date.

Walburga was born on September 30, 1936, in Kaiserslautern, Germany the daughter of Richard Nusshag Sr. and Martha (Jensen) Nusshag. Dottie was born and raised in Germany, where she met and married Cecil Zehr, in 1958. Four children were born to this union. They later divorced in 1970. Dottie married Donald Manternach on May 19, 1973, at the First Lutheran Church in Manchester. She stayed home to raise her family and also helped Donald on the family dairy farm south of Manchester. In her spare time Dottie enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and canning, gambling, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Dottie is survived by her children, Martha (Andy) Gearhart of Hopkinton, Ed (Wendy) Zehr and Neola (Kelly) Berhow of Manchester, Walter (Jess VonArx) Zehr of Strawberry Point, Joann Manternach and Tonya (Matt Alexander) Manternach of Manchester; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Benny Nusshag of Media, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Sr. and Martha Nusshag; husband, Donald Manternach; and her two grandsons, Dustin Eschen and Christopher Zehr.
