Vivian A. Pogue, 84, of Dundee, Iowa, died Thursday evening, December 14, 2006 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood after a 3-year battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Monday, December 18 2006, at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Dundee, with Rev. Roger McKinstry officiating. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Vivian was born October 31, 1922 in Dundee, the daughter of Henry and Ida E. (Ahrens) Theel. She was raised and educated in Dundee and graduated with the Dundee Consolidated School Class of 1940. Vivian ran her parents? hardware store after graduation until selling it in 1981. Vivian collected light bills for Interstate Power Co. for many years.
On February 3, 1945 Vivian was united in marriage to Glen H. Pogue at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Dundee. She was a lifetime member of St. John?s; baptized, attended Sunday school, confirmed and married. She taught Sunday school, Bible School and was a member of the ELCA. Vivian was a member of the Republican Party and enjoyed sitting on the election board in Richland Township for years. She loved spending time with family and friends and taking care of their needs. Vivian found great pleasure playing cards and bingo with her family and friends. She also enjoyed collecting bells and angel figurines.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Glen Pogue of Manchester; a son, Bruce (Beth) Pogue of Bettendorf; one grandson, Eric (Elizabeth) Pogue of Davenport; four great-grandchildren, Robert, Alex, Rebecca and Aaron William Pogue; a dearly loved sister and brother-in-law, Delores & Henry Brunsman of Dundee; two loved nephews and their families, Lynn (Karen) Brunsman and children, Amanda & Nick, Larry (Kathy) Brunsman and children Angie, friend Terrill, Chad (Brenda) and April; and many loved cousins and friends.
Vivian was preceded in death by her dear parents, Henry & Ida Theel; an infant sister, Meretta Theel; and a dearly loved grandson, Capt. Aaron Robert Pogue.
Memorials may be directed in Vivian?s name to St. John?s Lutheran Church in Dundee, the American Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
