Vivian Z. Phelps
March 6, 1926 — December 10, 2006
Vivian Z. Phelps, 80, of Village Ridge, Marion, died there, Sunday, December 10, 2006, following a short illness. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. There will be no funeral or graveside services.
Survivors include her sister, Ila Thorn of Marion; a brother, Mart Phelps of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Pat Phelps, Ruby Phelps of Cedar Rapids and Evelyn Phelps of Urbana; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Morris Phelps of Urbana, Dorn Phelps and George Phelps of Cedar Rapids.
Vivian was born March 6, 1926, the daughter of Fred and Esta Golden (Sherman) Phelps, in Center Point, Iowa. She graduated from Palo High School, University of Anderson, Anderson, Indiana and Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. For 13 years, she did missionary work in the Caribbean and Kenya, East Africa. Vivian served as a teacher overseas and at Garfield School in Cedar Rapids.
