Vivian Maxine Etzel, 87, formerly of Alburnett, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Mercy Hallmar. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by Rev. Dr. Douglas Miller. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.
Survivors include two sons, Kerry of Coulter, IA, and Dennis “Butch” (Edna) of Alburnett; two grandchildren, Mike Etzel of Alburnett, and Kim (AJ) Lewis of Center Point; four great-grandchildren, Matt, Tayler, and Dean Etzel, and Caleigh Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Vivian was born May 19, 1924, in Center Point, the daughter of Vernon and Lavona (Lala) Kirk. On March 25, 1944, Vivian was united in marriage to Harold Etzel in Center Point. He died October 9, 2005. Vivian was a member of Lafayette Christian Church, where she played the piano for many years. She and her husband were longtime farmers in the Alburnett area. She was a member of the Golden Rule Circle for many years.
A memorial fund has been established in Vivian’s honor.
