Vivian M. (Harms) Curtis, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Vivian was born September 3, 1942, in Little Point, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Irene (Hines) Harms. On December 21, 1974, Vivian married John W. Curtis, he passed away in 2010. She and John owned and operated the Czech Inn Tavern in what is now the Czech Village until 1983. Vivian later worked as a housekeeper for Mercy Hospital and the Meth-Wick Community.
Vivian’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed hosting a family reunion every year.
Vivian is survived by her son, Don (Kathleen) Robinett of Oklahoma City; daughter, Leslie Nyitrai of Frisco, Texas; four grandchildren: Jessica Robinett (Justin Price) and Trevor (Rachel) Robinett; Breanna and Nathan Nyitrai; one great-grandson, Roman Bentley Price; one great-grandson expected in January; and brother, Marcine (Renee) Harms of Atkins, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irene Harms; husband, John Curtis; two sisters, Viola Bahnsen and Betty Harms; four brothers, Duwayne Harms, Donald Harms, Raymond Harms, and Kenneth Harms.
