Vivian Arlene Collins, 86, of Central City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at home. Family will greet friends from 1 - 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Victory In Grace Baptist Church, located at 1700 B Avenue NE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will follow at Wilcox Cemetery, Viola, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion, Iowa, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vivian was born on June 1, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Howard Ira and Mabel Lois (Moss) Grassfield. She was a 1956 graduate of Anamosa High School. On April 14, 1957, Vivian was united in marriage to Cecil Henry Collins Jr. at the Lutheran Church in Anamosa, Iowa. She worked for Collins Radio and Lefebure in Cedar Rapids. Vivian was a member of Victory In Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed helping with music and nursery ministries over the years. She also volunteered for ICS Christian School.
Vivian is survived and remembered by her children, Cindy (Richard “Darcie”) Seeley of Anamosa, Ward Collins of Central City, David Collins of Cedar Rapids, Cheryl (Ricky) Brewer of Marion, and Jeannie (Gary) Mull of Colfax, Louisiana; 16 grandchildren, Joiey Seeley, Shandalle Backes, Randalle Knapp, Darcelle Seeley, Jennifer Nieves, Tyler Collins, Cody Hall, Kristin Richie, Dallas Hall, Alexis Sickels, Austin Hall, Aaron Mull, Hannah Mull, Benjamin Mull, Joshua Mull, and Nathan Mull; six great grandchildren and one on the way; and a brother, Roger Grassfield of Mt. Holly, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; grandson, Richard Darcie Seeley Jr.; great grandson, George Backes; one brother, Keith Grassfield; and two sisters, Margie Collins and Lois Grassfield.
