Vivian E. Althoff, 102, of Earlville, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earlville. Visitation: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 pm, Friday, May 11, 2012 at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville, with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional visitation, one hour prior to mass at the Funeral Home. Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Vivian was born April 16, 1910 in Brunisika, Yugoslavia (one time a part of Austria) to John and Mary (Dolan) Laban. She married Frank J. Althoff on January 12, 1932; he died on February 8, 1992.
Vivian is survived by her children: Charles (Geri) Althoff of Cascade, Edwin Althoff of Anamosa, Geraldine (Frank) Kintzle of Cedar Rapids, and Kathleen Graham of Cedar Rapids, 28 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, a daughter in-law, Margie Althoff of Manchester; two son in-laws, Ronald Dzaboff of Delaware, and Bob Kirsch of Dyersville; and two sisters, Dorothy Schaffer and Frances Kula.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Virginia Dzaboff and Elaine Kirsch; a son, Clarence; two grandchildren, Julie Ann Althoff and Ted Althoff; a daughter in-law, Mary Ann; and siblings, Marcella, Andy, Tony, and John.
Vivian was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, enjoyed playing cards, birds, outdoors, crocheting and being with her family.
A memorial fund has been established in Vivian's memory.
