Virginia C. Lala, 84, formerly of Walker and Marion, and a resident of Crestview Acres Care Center, Marion, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at the care center following a long illness. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, from 5- 8 p.m. today (Tuesday). Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Melisa Bracht-Wagner. Burial: Walker Cemetery, Walker, Iowa.
Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie (Emory) Walker of Plano, Texas, and Loydene (Frederick) Beaubien of Los Altos Hills, California; seven grandchildren, Tammy (Jim) Heitt, Joannie Kern, Deha (Judd) Miller, Jennifer (Scott) Oaks, Michelle (Brian) Gautier, and Blythe and Melissa Beaubien; and seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Gregory Hubacek, Charlie Kern, Garet Glacier, Jordan and Jessica Gautier and Maggie Dawn Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Lala; an infant son, Darrell Lee Lala; a daughter, Judy Peyton; and a grandson, Jeffrey Brian Waters.
Virginia was born the daughter of Alvin and Loretta Hansen Palmer on December 6, 1918, in Clinton, Iowa. On August 27, 1936, she was married there to Lloyd L. Lala. He died August 3, 1972. Virginia had worked at Rockwell-Collins and as a librarian at Indian Creek Elementary School.
