M. Viola Arnold, 74, of 439 Lindale Dr., Marion, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Pastor Cecil Ballard. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Wendy) Sundberg Jr. of Vinton and Donald (Julie) Sundberg of Evansville, Indiana; and six grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Eula (Neil) Wood, Dorothy (Jim) Galli, Velma (Richard) Rainville, and Norma (John) Oswald, all of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Nelson Parton and Lloyd Parton; and a sister, Joyce Parton.
Viola was born December 7, 1933, the daughter of Victor “Earl” and Mable (Kaufman) Parton in Santa Rosa, Missouri. She graduated from Marion High School in 1952. In 1952 she married Robert A. Sundberg, Sr. and had two children, Robert and Donald. Viola later married Richard Arnold. Viola mostly recently worked at Sam’s Club in Cedar Rapids. Viola was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Marion.
