Viola L. Bryant, 93, of Bertam/Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 9:30 – 11 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids by Pastor Dan Wiersema. Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at Campbell Cemetery in Bertram. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Paul Bryant of Bertram, Wayne (Alice) Bryant of Nashville, TN, Stephen (Angela) Bryant of Mississippi, Shirley (Daniel) Brown-Healy of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Carol Bryant of Hiawatha; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Uland; her son, Darrell; and a brother.
Viola was born August 3, 1922 in El Reno, Oklahoma to Howard and Ida (Neathery) Rush. She married Uland Bryant on August 26, 1939 in Konawa, Oklahoma. Viola spent her time as a homemaker, raising her 5 children. She was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids and had weekly Bible Studies in her home. Viola enjoyed nature and loved feeding all family, friends and wildlife. She was a servant and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in Viola’s memory.
