Vida M. Smyth (Krumroy)

Vida M. Smyth, 88, of 3611 Gilmore Rd, Marion, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Rockridge Care Center in Shellsburg. Visitation will be on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Lafayette Cemetery, Alburnett by Rev. H. Burr Bryant.
Survivors include two sons, Don (Sandi) Smyth of Phoenix, Arizona and Wayne Smyth and fiancée Brenda Pearson of Marion; a daughter, Karen (D.J.) Wilson of Marion; two sisters, Val Joslin of Marion and Valerie Walker of Cedar Rapids; and a grandson, Steven (Kelsey) Smyth of Conway, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother; and a sister.
Vida was born May 5, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Lulu (Thede) Krumroy in Mechanicsville. On January 15, 1947, she married Virgil Smyth. He died December 3, 1997.
Vida worked at Wilson’s in the business office prior to her marriage. She then farmed with her husband for many years in Linn County. She was a member of Alburnett United Methodist Church.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Vida.
