Victor “Vic” James Warren, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital, after a prolonged illness. His wife and daughter were by his side. Celebration of Life: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Moose Lodge, 1820 West Post Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids. At Vic’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of almost 64 years, Joyce; daughter, Vickie “Susie” (Jerry) Fruendt, Cedar Rapids; nephews, David (Sonja) Warren, Marion and John (Pat) Kadlec, Cedar Rapids; nieces, Brenda (Rex) Reeve and Lori (Brent) Wilfong, both of Cedar Rapids; also surviving are nieces and nephews from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and aunts, uncles and cousins of Stockton, New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David, Richard and Claude; and his beloved dog, Jake.
Vic was born December 14, 1925, the son of Claude and Lorena Warren, in Stockton, New York. After the death of his parents at the age of 11, he went to live at the Annie Wittenmeyer Home in Davenport, Iowa. On November 22, 1947, Vic was united in marriage to Joyce Morava in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For 35 years, he worked at Wilson Foods, retiring in June, 1983.
Vic was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2272. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching TV and was an avid Hawkeye fan, attending many bowl games over the years. Vic also was a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed an occasional casino trip.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous, 12007 190th Street, Monticello, IA 52310 or Little Paws Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 14, Mt. Vernon, IA 52314, in memory of Vic.
