Victor Elmer Buker

Victor E. Buker, 87, of 1257 Marion Airport Road, Marion, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Springville Presbyterian Church by Rev. Karen Downey Beals. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include his sons, Darrel (Lori) Buker of Perris, California, Gary (Paula Spaight) Buker of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Kevin (Brenda) Buker of Marion; two sisters, Camilla (Robert) Webber of Palo and Ella (George) Riser of Cedar Rapids; and one grandson, Eric Buker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Genevieve; and three brothers, Peter, Melvin, and Bill.
Victor was born July 3, 1920, the son of Francis and Elsie (Mickelson) Buker in Cedar Rapids. He attended Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. Victor served with the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1945. On September 6, 1942, he married Genevieve Covington in Enid, Oklahoma. She died February 15, 2004. Victor worked for Quaker Oats for thirty-nine years.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Victor’s memory.
