Vicky D. Gent, 67, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with a Scripture Service beginning at 4:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, officiated by Father David O’Connor. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021, at St. Patricks Cemetery Little Creek, south east of North English, Iowa. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

Vicky was born on August 26, 1953, in Shellsburg, Iowa, the daughter of William and Aletha (Barton) Raue. On July 4, 1986, she was united in marriage to Mathias “Matt” Lee Gent at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Vicky worked at Target for 30 years, retiring in 2018. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Vicky was an avid loyal Iowa Hawkeye fan. She loved watching all Iowa Hawkeye sports and always said she bled black and gold. Vicky will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Vicky is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 34 years, Matt Gent of Marion; siblings, Barbara (Larry) Horning of Demming, New Mexico, Rick (Wendy “Wanda”) Raue of Cedar Rapids, and Jerry Neely and family of Cedar Rapids; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Donna Gent of Rural South English, Iowa; and a host of extended family members including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Raue; mother, Aletha Neely; step-father, Charles Neely; and five brothers, Bill Raue, Ken Raue, Jerry Raue, David Raue, and Bobby Raue.
