Vesta June Taylor, 68, of 1618 E. Ave. NW, died Sunday, February 15, 2004 at home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Jenny Bass with Amenity Hospice. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, David; her mother, Arlene Campbell of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Kimberly Campbell and husband Andrew of Lehigh Acres, Florida and Lynn Riley of Cedar Rapids; three step-children, Eric Taylor and wife Andrea of Cedar Rapids, LeJean McAllister of Cedar Rapids and Angie Morse of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Donna Sondag and husband Denny of Hiawatha; her brother, Guy Scalf and wife Marlene of Grand Island, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Vesta was born June 7, 1935, the daughter of Ed and Arlene (Kent) Scalf in Iowa City. On August 26, 1976, she married David L. Taylor in Iowa City. She worked for Square D and Rockwell for many years before staying home to care for her family.
Vesta was a very loving and caring person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She always had a smile even through the pain.
